Mysterious Package Company is one of the best in the business when it comes to highly immersive, intricate mystery experiences. Long-time fans of the company were devastated when they stopped producing their premium Crate experiences in recent years. The great news is… the Crates are back! Not only will MPC be rereleasing its hugely popular horror experience, Hastur, but they are debuting a new mystery, Innsmouth Rising.
What’s it about?
“In July of 1927, A curious traveler visited the ancient Massachusetts seaport of Innsmouth. There, in that decaying coastal town, he found more than just boarded-up homes and suspicious stares. Beneath the rotting facades lurked a horrifying secret: generations of townsfolk had struck a pact with ancient beings – the Deep Ones – in exchange for wealth and immortality.
The traveler’s misadventure in Innsmouth not only exposed the nefarious cult members of the Esoteric Order of Dagon and their grip on the town, but also revealed his own untenable secret. After a close escape and appeal to the authorities, the federal government took a keen interest in the denizens of the quiet, unassuming harbor, and in the Winter of 1928, laid waste to the town.
Vast and sweeping raids and arrests occurred, followed by the burning and dynamiting of supposedly empty houses. We’ll perhaps never know what remnants of the EOD survived, and what became of their wealth, faith, and legacy… And so, we welcome you to Innsmouth Rising.”
